The most likely place you’ve heard Fifi Rong this year is on the title track of Skepta’s ‘Konnichiwa’ album – it’s her voice that opens the record. She also appears on three tracks on the new Yello LP, and has previously worked with the likes of Tricky, Ghostchant, Phaeleh and more. But it’s her own material you should really be directing your attention to.
Her debut album, ‘Wrong’, was released in 2013, and more recently she’s put out two EPs – ‘Violently Silently’ in 2015 and ‘Forbidden Desire’ in April this year. As she works towards her second full album, her new single, ‘Future Never Comes’, is due for release on 4 Nov.
“‘Future Never Comes’ is by far the most epic-sounding track I’ve made”, she says, “with a lyrical theme going back to my initial breakthrough of the fear for pursuing my dream and answering my calling”.
